the site rules *
welcome to home is where the heart is, an AU harry potter rp that takes place in 2005 - seven years after voldemort's death, but before the epilogue takes place (therefore, nothing in the epilogue is canon). while we'll try to avoid explicitly posting spoilers, it is assumed that you have read all 7 books, so please do not join if you have not. i know you just want to get to the actual roleplaying, but please take the time to just read these rules before starting.CONTENT001 | First things first, this site is made PG-13 due to Proboards TOS. If you have not taken a look at them yet, I suggest you do so here. Currently, we do allow fighting, death, pregnancy, marriage. For more delicate matters, such as rape or child abuse, we'd like for you to stick that only in a character's history, and nowhere else. You may also mention it from time to time, but please do not do it excessively. Torture, physical & verbal abuse (of adults) and sex scenes can be mentioned and written about, but must be kept to a relatively low standard - so nothing explicit! You also MUST PM a staff member about deaths, marriages and pregnancies.
002 | Please post in third person! This is rather self-explanatory, really - it will make it easier on everyone if you stay consistent with your roleplaying, so that everybody knows what each post is about. First person is to only be role-played in the In Character Chatbox (also known as the IC Cbox), which will be set up some time soon. Past tense is usually preferred as well, although you are allowed to choose which tense you want to use for the thread (so long as you've worked it out with your partner already).
003 | You are allowed to have an icon of your character. While there is no current size limit, please try to keep avatars around or under 150x150 It must be of your character that is that profile. You are allowed to have a signature of your character. It can be no larger than 550x300. Any longer and it doesn't look right/stretches the page. It must be of your character that is that profile.
004 | There is no word count limit here. However, it would be greatly appreciated if you make sure to adhere to a certain standard of literacy. That means no chat speak, as well as correct spelling and grammar. The occasional slip up here and there is, of course, fine! Also, it is considered only polite to give the other roleplayer something to work with, so please, while nobody is keeping count, do try to post at least a paragraph.
005 | Etiquette is very important here! Remember to be polite and kind to all others. In the end, we're just here to have fun, so try not to ruin the experience for anyone. If you feel that you must do something about someone and feel that they've been unfair or such, please take it to PM or, better yet, tell us!
REGISTRATION006 | We do not care what username you sign up with. As long at some point before you get accepted or right after, you change your display name to First Middle (optional) Last name.Example 1 | Character Group: [will be assigned later]

CHARACTERS007 | Most of the time, we will be going by the movie adaptations for face claims. However, feel free to deviate from those! We have put up a list that you can check, which consist mainly of movie faces, but also other face claims we feel might suit the character well. Click here.
008 | Bios are allowed to be posted even when they are still being worked on. Actually, we prefer that so that we know you are working on a character and haven't forgotten about us. Bios must be filled out properly to be accepted. This means that you must include all the points provided in the template. You are, of course allowed to add things to it, but please make sure not to change any basic part of the form, as we want to make all the bios look consistent.
009 | Characters abandoned and/or left inactive (and/or player's inactivity) for more than 30+ days without notice beforehand will be made available again. These characters will be left there or given to other players interested in playing them. As for OCs, we will try to contact you if possible to work something out. You are free to let us adopt out your OC, if you are alright with that, or not allow that, if that's what you want to do.
010 | Please do not godmod, powerplay, or otherwise be completely and utterly unfair in the portrayal of your character. Godmodding is when a character is overpowered, usually through means not accessible to the character (e.g. if something is discussed OOCly and the roleplayer makes their character know that information, even though there's no IC reason for that to happen). Godmodding can also be things like randomly having an army of dementors by your side, even though there's no viable reason for them to be there, and they have never been mentioned before. Powerplaying is when you control someone else's character (e.g. during fights, making it so that your attack definitely hits them. At least allow for them to dodge, counter, or so on. Don't worry though, making it so that your character dodges all the time regardless of how skilled their opponent is is considered godmodding).
CHAT BOX010 | Do not spam, advertise in, or bash the site/members of this site in the CBox. If it's a member that is doing this, action will most certainly be taken by us. All advertising should be done in the board designated for advertising. And spamming is quite obviously irritating and silly. The cbox is there specifically for communicating with other members and guests, so if you want to chat specifically on one topic for a long period of time, or want to chat with certain members for extended periods of time, please PM them or post a chat thread.
011 | In the IC cbox, you are to use your character’s name that you are playing with (preferably your character’s first and last name for any confusion) and any avatar of your character’s faceclaim.
PUNISHMENT012 | For any rule breakers out there, a PM will be sent to you once we have found that you have broken a rule, asking you to fix it. If you have not responded (to the PM or by fixing it) within a week, you will be sent an email of your violation. If it has still not been fixed within a week after that, your account will be banned temporarily.
If you do fix it, time will go on. If you break the rules 2 more times, your account will be suspended for a period of time upon staff discussion.
If you repeat after your account has been suspended, you will no longer be able to roleplay with us.
Thanks for reading! Sorry it's so long, but these are necessary and at least it's over now. Overall, don't do anything stupid or obnoxious. It gets on everybody's nerves. And please, remember - it's just a game, and the most important thing is that you have fun!
